New way of exam preparation for Nepalese students

A group of graduates from Pulchowk Engineering Campus come up with an idea to revolutionize the way students prepare their entrance exams. A new platform called Meroanswer has been introduced to the students to enhance the classroom study.

It is a blend of education with technology making entrance preparation accessible to more students in an affordable price. Meroanswer has been  providing access to more than 15,000 questions along with hints and solution for both engineering and medical entrance examination.

“Today students spend upto 6 hours on their mobile phones - chatting on facebook or watching funny videos on Youtube. After we introduced Meroanswer, it has become a part of their daily schedule. Most of the students practice questions for at least one hour a day on their phone”, said Sijan Bhandari, CMO and Cofounder of Meroanswer.

This might be a new concept for Nepali students but it is one of the best and most popular medium for studies abroad. Internet and Mobile have advanced the method of education and has brought a lot of development. It gives you an easy access to large amount of resources and different medium to learn. Millions of students are enjoying courses from best universities of the world with the help of online education platforms like Coursera, Khan academy, Udacity. This shows people are being able to make the best use of technology.

“When I was applying for IOE, I read a few Indian books but spent most time in Nepali books as they were more aligned to the syllabus of entrance exams in Nepal. The same applies to mobile apps. Though there are plenty of other apps, Meroanswer has been designed so that it fits the needs of Nepali Students. It allows student to practice unlimited sets of exam model for IOE, Indian Embassy Engineering/medical, BPKIHS, KU Medical and MOE. This gives the student with idea of question pattern of the exam and help them with time management and following continuous feedback. “, adds Bhandari.
The team has been successful in gaining an impressive traction. After the introduction of a revamped system in June 2015, more than 8,000 students signed up for Meroanswer which is around 30% of entrance preparing students. The team is also experimenting with a subscription model that costs Rs. 2,000 per year. This type of model is a rare experiment in Nepali market.

Over the next 1 year, Meroanswer plans to bring it as a complete entrance preparation package and reach more students at higher secondary education. The promising traction and conversion of a significant students to paid model has certainly provided some hopes for Nepali app ecosystem.
